Dental Implants Procedures
The dental implant procedure is rather simple. Before patients undergo the procedure, they will speak to Drs. Marlon Pasquier, Sr. and Marlon Pasquier, Jr. of Miami Modern Dental to determine if they are appropriate candidates. This requires x-rays and a dental history, as well as a full examination of the smile to make sure it is in proper health. Once dental implants have been decided on, surgery is scheduled. Oral surgery is necessary for the placement of dental implants. Patients may request sedative methods to make sure they are comfortable throughout the procedure. The dentist drills a small hole into the bone with precision to place the dental implant and suture it. Over the course of several weeks, even months, a process called osseointegration begins to occur. This is the time during which bone growth is stimulated and begins to wrap around the implant to hold it firmly in place. Once this has occurred, patients can restore the top of the implant with an abutment and dental crown. The dental crown is fabricated to match the teeth still in the smile to look just as beautiful as the natural teeth and to ensure the results are as natural-looking as possible. The entire process can take several months but patients are excited to restore the function and aesthetics of their smile with a long-term solution such as dental implants.
