Patients who are introduced to the idea of root canal therapy are often interested in learning more about the specifics of the procedure. While root canal therapy may seem like a scary concept, it is actually a routine, comfortable procedure regularly performed by Drs. Marlon Pasquier, Sr. and Marlon Pasquier, Jr. of Miami Modern Dental. This father/son team has performed many endodontic therapy procedures and prefer them as a way of maintaining ones dental health and wellness.

The root canal procedure begins with a diagnosis and x-rays. It must be determined that there is an infection or trauma to the dental pulp which warrants the procedure. Once this has been confirmed, the procedure can be scheduled. Patients can ask for sedation or anesthetics during the treatment, during which a small hole is drilled into the problem tooth to allow access to the dental pulp. Using special instruments, the pulp is removed and the area inside is disinfected then sealed with a material called gutta percha. A filling is used over the tooth, and in many instances, a custom dental crown is fabricated to bond over the natural tooth to offer an extra layer of protection. Drs. Marlon Pasquier, Sr. and Marlon Pasquier, Jr. can then release their patients with aftercare instructions.
