Invisalign and invisible lingual braces are both great cosmetic alternatives to traditional metal orthodontic brackets. So what is the difference?

Invisalign is a removable orthodontic appliance that requires you to personally take off and put on the appliance regularly. Invisalign comes in a series of clear trays that you put over your teeth. Each invisalign tray is fabricated with built in pressure points which cause your teeth to move accordingly. Invisalign is dependent on the person to regularly wear the trays as instructed, failure to do so will cause longer treatment time.

On the other hand, Invisible Lingual braces are a fixed orthodontic appliance that is bonded to the back of the teeth where no one can see them. Since, Invisible Lingual braces are bonded to the back of the teeth your dentist has complete control over teeth movement. He does not have to depend on you having to put on or take off anything. Best of all you can see your teeth move right before your eyes, without anyone noticing you have braces.

So which orthodontic system is best for me invisalign or invisible lingual braces?

Well, it depends on your particular concern. They both cost about the same, if you have minor to mild crooked teeth both systems work well, but if you have more severe crowding, rotations, crossbite, deepbite, and/or underbite then invisible lingual braces would be a better option since it offers more control of teeth movement to the operator. One last factor to consider is if you trust yourself to wear a removable appliance regularly. If you are a forgetful person then invisible lingual braces would be a better option since with invisalign you have to wear and remove the clear trays as instructed.
