Miami area dentist describes the dental veneers procedure from start to finish

Dental veneers can take approximately one to two weeks from start to finish. The procedure begins with a consultation. At this time, patients will work with their dentist to determine if they are appropriate candidates for this method of repair. Patients must have good oral health and understand the limitations and expectations of dental veneers.
Once patients have decided that porcelain veneers are right for them, preparation begins. This involves the removal of a small portion of the enamel from the front of the tooth. By doing this, it eliminates the possibility of the veneer adding extra bulk to the smile and looking unnatural.
After preparation has been done, impressions are made. These molds are sent to a ceramist along with color instructions from the dentist. This ensures the new veneers match the existing teeth within the smile. In the meantime, temporary veneers are placed until the new veneers arrive from the ceramist for placement.
The final appointment is the placement of the veneers over the natural teeth. They are bonded in place with a special dental cement to ensure years of enjoyment.
